Last week I was invited to try out this resto bar located inside CityMax hotel in Barsha. Getting to the venue was not a problem at all as this hotel is quite well known.
Ambiance: I quite love the interiors here – pretty neat. You get the main theme of the bar as soon as you step into it. However, if you’re looking for some comfy seating, I don’t think you would have much luck here. They have very few sofa seatings and mostly wooden chairs. I loved the music that they were playing on a Wednesday evening – we were humming along most of the time. They also have a band that plays live music for you sometime after 9pm.
Service: The servers were quite nice. The bartenders were very sweet and helped us in getting some of our orders too. They got us the food on time and did not keep us waiting..even with the drinks.
Price: Moderately affordable [200AED for two w/o alcohol]
What we had;
Asian Platter [65AED]: Drums of heaven, breaded shrimps, chilli chicken and beef stir fry. What I loved about this platter was that you could choose what you wanted included in it. We chose fried calamari, onion rings, drums of heaven and breaded shrimps. One thing that I would like to bring to your notice is that the food is extremely oily, like you can actually see the food drenched in oil. Therefore we were not a fan of the fried calamari, onion rings and breaded shrimps. They were to oily for our tasting. The portion size was enough for 3! Drums of heaven were basically chicken lollypop and they were very delectable and quite spicy as well.
Chilli con carne (Nachos) [35AED]: You need to eat them quick, otherwise you’re in for some soggy nachos with hardened chunks of cheese as toppings. 😛 I liked these nachos along side some nacho cheese and salsa. Paired well with our Stella Beer! Portion size was quite good.
JD wings [35AED]: Gosh these wings were BOMB! Though I could not really get the flavour of JD but man oh man, these flavours were so poppin’. It had a lasting flavour of sweetness to it which we absolutely love, would totally recommend these bad boys to you.
Original Spicy Buffalo wings [35AED]: They really do justice with their wings. I absolutely loved these as well. They were so saucey and super spicy. Perfect combination. Washed them down with some cold beer.
Tandoori Chicken Burger [45AED]: This was a HUGE burger! It was served with some papaya and pineapple relish. Now this gave the authentic tandoori masala a sweet and sour taste which we were really happy with. Would recommend this if you love the mix of flavours I spoke about, above. Also, did I mention it comes with the side of some fries?
Pepperoni Pizza [45AED]: Beef pepperoni, tomatoes and mozzarella. The pizza was quite decent; nothing spectacular. My boyfriend found the pizza sauce to be a tad too salty, which I did not complain off. So depends from taste to taste. Medium crusted pizza with generous cheese topping!
Melting Chocolate Fondant [35AED]: By far one of the best fondants I have personally ever had. The melted chocolate on the inside was too good! I loved the vanilla ice cream pairing with the hot melting fondant. 5/5 for this. Also, how adorable does this dessert look!
Final Verdict: I liked the vibe here.. it was quite chill. The food may not be the best, but was quite good for us. They offer a wide variety of alcohol so shut up and don’t complain 😛 They have happy hour quite frequently so make use of that. You can try going here in a group – you are bound to enjoy.
